YNET: Terror returns to Jerusalem: Industrial digger strikes bus and car
Police officer shoots and kills terrorist behind the wheel of the digger; three people wounded in incident.
August 4, 2014
An industrial digger driven by a terrorist hit a pedestrian, a bus and a car in central Jerusalem on Monday afternoon, as terror returned to the streets of Jerusalem.
Three people were wounded in the attack, which took place at around 1:30 pm. One person is in critical condition and two sustained light wounds. .
The terrorist behind the wheel hit the bus and the car, before being shot dead by police.
Images from the scene showed an overturned bus, and the the terrorist dead in the cabin of the digger.
Magen David Adom rescue service said hat they received a report at around 1:35 pm that a tractor had apparently hit a pedestrian and then an empty bus. Its emergency personnel had treated a 25-year-old man and the 45-year-old bus driver at the scene, the service said.
The attack is the latest in a series of incidents involving vehicles. In summer 2008, tractors were used to carry out two separate terror attacks in Jerusalem in the space of three weeks.
In 2009, a tractor plowed into a police car on Menachem Begin Boulevard in Jerusalem. The driver was apparently also trying to hit a nearby bus, but missed. Two police officers were in the car when it was hit and both sustained mild injuries. Other police officers nearby shot the terrorist.
In October 2013, a Palestinian was shot dead after he rammed a tractor through the main gate of an army base located north of Jerusalem.
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Well, you gotta hand it to YNET for at least not pretending that this was an "unusual incident." Rather, it acknowledged that this was part of a "series of incidents."
So, this begs the obvious question: Why are Arabs still allowed to operate tractors?
I can hear the ridiculous cries of racism and ethnic profiling already!
The next thing you will hear is how the attack (by an Arab) was the Jews fault! Battered wives syndrome, etc.
(YNET)...The terrorist was named as Mohammed Naif Ja'abis. Local media said he was from the East Jerusalem village of Jabel Mukaber. Israel Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld confirmed that the terrorist was an Arab man in his 20s from East Jerusalem. Officials said the assailant was known to the police from a previous security incident. He wasn't just an Arab. He was an Arab with a history of a "previous security incident." And who knows what that could mean. And by the way, Jabel Mukaber is right next to East Talpioth. Still believe that "These Arabs" and "Those Arabs?"
Imagine if you or your loved ones had been on this bus.
Now, imagine if this Arab had been driving your bus instead of a tractor. How about your children's bus driver. Still want to take the chance that your children would come home that evening?
That's happened before by the way. On February 14, 2001, an Arab bus driver used his bus as a weapon, killing 7 soldiers and one civilian, and wounding 21 others in the Tel-Aviv suburb of Azor.
What if passengers had been hurt as well?
And, what do you know?
(YNET)...The officer who stopped the terrorist was identified as Ariel Tuita; the bus driver wounded in the attack was identified as Nabli Abed Alkhay.Of course, our illustrious Mayor of Jerusalem had this to say...
(YNET)...Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat praised the security forces for their speedy response, saying the terrorist had not gone more than 100 meters before he was stopped. But he also called for citizens to behave responsibly in such tense times.
"No one should take the law into their own hands, and anyone who does so should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," the Jerusalem mayor said.
I guess he's still a little nervous after the recent killing of the Arab teenager, especially since we still do not know the full story behind the incident.
Responsibly? We all know what that means. You had better have witnesses present when you defend yourself against Arabs
Now, let's remind ourselves of whom we are dealing...
